The Ring Growth of iPhone in January decreased by 35% while Samsung’s declined by 50%

The sales volume of iPhone suffers decline worldwide, especially in China. The sales volume of iPhone did not meet the expectation during the new year holiday here.

Rosenblatt Securities analyst Jun Zhang addressed that:” General speaking, January is the month that receives strong sales. However, the smartphone Ring Growth decreased by 20% in January and its growth also dropped a lot on the year-on-year basis.”

In Chinese market, Apple and Samsung suffered a great lost in comparison with other enterprises. According to the estimation of Rosenblatt Securities, iPhone sales volume decreased by 35% in comparison with the sales volume of last December. While the Ring Growth increased by 15% in January, 2015.

The bad news also came to Samsung. Its Ring Growth in this January decreased by about 50%. In January, its high end smartphone Galaxy S6 and Note 5 were only sold 1.1 million units. They were sold 2.3 million units in December, 2015. Chinese brand Huawei is a great competitor to Samsung. Huawei launched its new version Mate 8 and it is getting more share in the high end market.

” General speaking, the consumers would like to purchase new smartphone as new year gift, therefore, the sales volume in January would sound strong.” Said Jun Zhang. He continued that we assumed there are demands of smartphones, however, the consumers are cutting spenses due to the economic reccession. Many of the Chinese enterprises are cutting jobs, the situation is a bit difference from 2008’s and 2009’s.

Chinese market is important to Apple company. In last quarter, Apple realized $74.6 billion revenue, and Chinese revenue accounted for $16.144 billion. Tim Cook suggested in January that the sales of iPhone in Chinese market started slow down, especially in Hong Kong.
